I am not going to be assigning due dates just yet, but I will let you know what is going on in the future for English and History!
English:
This Week- Students are working on an "Open Letter" to society about the misunderstanding of Teenagers.
Next Week- Good copy will be due Mid Week... it should be 3 paragraphs
Para 1) Ways teenagers are misunderstood/mislabelled
Para 2) Inspirational teens with evidence
Para 3) How they plan on raising their teenagers if they have kids! (That part should be interesting for parents to read!)
End of next week: EARTH DAY writing assignment based on book "The Earth Caught a cold"
Month of May: Creative Writing assignments- We will be doing MANY mini assignments (1 a day) and students will have to choose 10 for an END OF YEAR PORTFOLIO as their final English Mark for the year.
***** All English exams at Symmes will be done in the classroom...there is no exam in the Gym this year.
STudents will have a reading response to do at the end of May.
HISTORY
This week we are learning about the Industrial Revolution
Their final assignment will involve writing THREE DIARY ENTRIES
1) From the perspective of child worker
2) woman worker
3) Factory owner
There will be a unit text end of next week. *Study guide will be provided
End of april/Early May: Great Depression
May: World War 1
End Of May/June- Review for Final exam. Please note that their History Exam will be in the Gym unless otherwise indicated on their IEP.
Advisory: Once the nice weather hits, students will be working out outside 2 times a week. Please bring outdoor runners! Other than that, we will be doing end of year study skills and prep.
Let me know if you have any questions! I will have to make IEP meeting times with you all at the beginning of May...I am hoping Wednesday afternoons will work but if not, we will figure it out!
